About us.

Since 1978, The Housing Hotline has been a valued resource in Newport County, helping families and individuals stay in their homes with one-time grants for rental assistance and aid with shutoff notices for gas and electricity. The Housing Hotline has helped more than one hundred thousand individuals for over forty years. The Community Housing Resource Board/Housing Hotline is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

How it works.

When you call the Housing Hotline, you will complete a brief intake process guided by one of our HH specialists, and the information that you provide will help determine which housing services you are eligible for and meet your needs.

How you can help

Regardless of the economy, we pledge to continue serving those in need and spend every dollar donated as if it were our last. So many of our clients are indeed at the end of the rope. Be a lifeline for hundred neighbors, the several thousand women, men, and children we directly serve each year. Consider making a financial donation to support our organization.

Donations will assist in:

  • Paying a landlord when there is an eviction notice

  • Pay the utility company when there is a shutoff notice

  • Provide motel vouchers for shelterless families

  • Replace our antiquated office computer system

  • Hire a second full-time employee to keep the Housing Hotline door open seven days a week.

Make a donation.

Despite a lack of affordable housing and recent budget cuts, the Housing Hotline can continue to serve over a hundred clients a week, twice as many year-over-year. In these difficult times, we need your support.
